After three years of interior design in London, I formed a husband and wife architecture practice with the late Barrie Briscoe RIBA, growing into the successful and prestigious Arco Studios in 2003, nurturing talented local designers and producing over a hundred high quality buildings throughout West Cornwall and beyond. We did this by integrating interior design and architecture right from the start of each project and keeping a strong grip on the details. I started Elkan Interiors in 2011 to build on my experience, knowledge and continuing enthusiasm for making great buildings.
Architecture
Since starting Elkan Interiors, I have added more architectural work to my portfolio, continuing the design principles I developed with Barrie Briscoe - responsiveness to the setting and the client's wishes, robust, simple materials and careful detailing.
For larger projects, I enjoy the role of co-ordinator, bringing together and running a talented team. It's all about the people ....
